Friday Morning Rockpile:
Interleague play comes to an end after Sunday's game with Detroit, and, outside of Kansas City, it hasn't been all that bad for the Rockies. Two of three from Minnesota, two of three from the White Sox, and a three-game sweep of the Indians isn't bad at all. But that huge zero in the win column against the Royals is, to put it kindly, bad. After Detroit, the Rockies take on the Padres in a contest to determine the worst team in the NL West. Woo. . .
With game #81 coming this Saturday, Tracy Ringolsby looks at the fail of the Rockies this season, who is on the trade desk, and where help from the minors may come.
Do we want Jason Grilli to pitch in his old park?
As he attempts to put it all together, look at how Ubaldo Jimenez grips his pitches. Jimenez starts tonight against Eddie Bonine.

Thursday Morning Rockpile:
What's the real reason the Broncos, Nuggets and Avalanche (probably) all failed to find glory this year? The Rockies drank their karma. Actually, I don't think getting to the second round of the playoffs wasn't too terrible a result for the Avs this year, but what I want to know is where we can get a refill on that shake. STAT.
Jason Grilli and Jorge de la Rosa -plus $200,000 cash- in, Zach Simons out . Jose Capellan's stay with the MLB squad was cut short quickly, before he actually made a pitch for us, in fact.
Grilli seems to be the Tigers scapegoat for their own poor start, and those numbers actually aren't as terrible as Tiger fans assure us that his performance has been. I mentioned in the fanpost below that it's important to keep in mind he's switching to an easier league, and NL hitters haven't had a good look at him since 2001. I can't see anything wrong with getting a guy like this on the cheap.
Tulo's headed for the DL, Morales to Arizona in attempts to fix our floundering young players. Rockies roving pitching instructor Jim Wright will attempt to fix Morales' mechanics. For an excellent write-up on those mechanics, and a photo analysis of what he's doing differently this season from his dominant performances of last season, read Alex Eisenberg's post at Baseball Intellect. It's definitely worth the time.
